Savannah- Elsie Guerry Martin, 92, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2010 at Candler Hospital.

She was a native of Savannah and one of the first female employees of Delta Airlines in Georgia during WWII. Mrs. Martin was a longtime member of the Eastern Star, the Huntingdon Club, the Grand Gardeners, and for over fifty years, a member of the Gordonston Garden Club. She was a long time volunteer with the Candler Hospital Auxiliary and for more than sixty years, a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Mr. Carl H. Martin, her husband of sixty three years and her son, Stephen Guerry Martin, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Martin Noel; son-in-law, Richard L. Noel; daughter-in-law, Jane Varn Martin; five grandchildren, Jane Martin Brown, James P. Noel, Martin L. Noel, Kristin Noel Weiner, Elizabeth Martin; two great-grandchildren, Ellen Brown, Abbey Stacey, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 18, 2010 at the Hodgson Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors.

Burial: Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.

Remembrances may be made to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10 W. 31st ST., Savannah, GA 31401.
